UCAT ANZ TEST DETAILS
The UCAT stands for University Clinical Aptitude Test. It now replaces the UMAT (Undergraduate Medical and Health Sciences Admissions Test) for medical school entry in Australia & New Zealand where it is known as the UCAT ANZ. This test is an established & respected clinical admissions test in other parts of the world. Unlike the 3-hour, paper-based UMAT, the UCAT ANZ is a 2-hour, computer-based test available at various Pearson Vue test centers in Australia and New Zealand between July 1st – 31st (another difference to the UMAT which offered just one July test date). The opening times & availability of UCAT ANZ test centers vary within this period. Visit the UCAT ANZ website to see all test center locations & their availability.
It is worth noting that international students may be exempt from taking UCAT ANZ or may be required to sit a different test, such as the ISAT (International Students Admissions Test). You should refer to the specific university’s website to confirm which test is required for international applicants.

Is the UCAT similar to the UMAT?
Some of the initial UCAT announcements indicated that the UCAT is similar to the UMAT. This is true only in a very limited way. Both tests differ widely in structure, as the UCAT consists of 5 timed sections, and the UMAT consisted of 3 untimed sections testing competency in 3 areas. There are some perceived similarities in the test content of both tests, however, with a deeper understanding and observation, these test questions are not so similar in style. Find out more about the test content differences of both exams.

- Tests taken outside of Australia or New Zealand: TBC
Students can refer to the UCAT ANZ Concession Scheme to see their eligibility for a lowered fee. Candidates who take their test outside of Australia will not be eligible. For further information about the UCAT ANZ test & to register* please visit the UCAT ANZ website.

Practice Test
Practice Tests and Question Banks
The Practice Tests will be refreshed for UCAT ANZ 2023 in March 2023.
These example questions and practice tests are produced by the UCAT Consortium and are representative of the live test. We recommend you use these official materials to prepare for your test. Don’t forget to read the information about the Test Tools before you start, as it explains how to use the on-screen calculator and keyboard shortcuts.
Although introduced to Australia and New Zealand in 2019, the UCAT has been used for over 12 years in the UK under the historic test name UKCAT. These UCAT preparation materials represent the content of the UCAT ANZ test and should be used to familiarise yourself with the test format and to prepare for the test. As practice materials are compiled from previous test questions, there may be a higher proportion of questions with a UK context than you will see in the UCAT ANZ.It is an onscreen simulation of the LNAT. It is a simulation of the real LNAT exactly as it will appear on-screen at the test center. You can use it to familiarize yourself with the format of the test and the skills it requires.
Guided Tour of LNAT Test Screen.
The best way to familiarize yourself with the system is to try out our two practice tests.
Question Banks
Use these five question banks to familiarise yourself with the type of questions you will see in your test. Each subtest bank contains a large number of questions which you may wish to attempt over several practice sessions.
Your progress through the question bank is not retained for future visits. It is therefore advisable to make a note of which questions you have attempted.
These questions are intended to be viewed on desktop rather than mobile devices, so as to accurately reflect the live test experience.
Practice Tests
An essential part of preparation as you near your test date should be using the four official UCAT practice tests under timed conditions. These are available in the standard UCAT ANZ and extended UCATANZ SEN timings. We cannot offer practice tests with the timings in the UCATANZ SA, UCATANZ SEN10 or UCATSENSA but there are untimed versions you can utilise.
The practice tests are not set up to save your result or provide a score. The final review screen shows which of your answers are correct / incorrect. From this screen, you can return to each question to see the correct answer and display the answer rationale (by clicking the ‘Explain Answer’ button). Please note that when you take the live test your correct and incorrect answers will not be reported.
These are intended to be viewed on desktop rather than mobile devices, so as to accurately reflect the live test experience.
